ki'o after pi
I am confused about the following examples from chapter 18 of the reference
grammar:
3.9) pi ki'o re re
point comma two two
.022
3.10) pi pa ki'o pa re ki'o pa
point one comma one two comma one
.101012001
Shouldn't the value of 3.10 be either .100012001 or .001012001?
Although, following the convention in 3.9, it should be .112001, because the
digits immediately following the {ki'o} are placed in the preceeding group.
It seems to me that any instance of {ki'o} should be able to be replaced by 0,
1, 2, or 3 instances of {no} and have the same meaning, which would make 3.9
have a value of .00022 and 3.10 have a value of .1001201. This also makes {pi
ki'o re} have the same value (with a different amount of precision) as {pi ki'o
re no}.
Could someone please explain to me how this actually works, because it
obviously works differently than I expect? Also, what is the value of {pi pa
re ki'o ci vo}?
.eryk.
