{sei} always requires a selbri though. You could say 
{sei la alis co'e ko'a}, with the same number of syllables.
In fact, I used {co'e} this way in the Alice translation,
for example as {sei la alis di'a co'e} for "Alice continued",
so as to avoid too many cuskus.
