From what I have learned (I am also a beginner) your first sentence 
with kakne is correct.

	xu do cusku bau la lojban

should also be fine. You might also consider

	xu do tavla fo la lojban

although I'm not sure to what degree tavla implies vocal speech rather 
than communication in general.

I suppose the differences here are a matter of precision.
