(Giggle) Actually, giving half a liver can be done while alive with
limited health effects - the thing apparently grows back in a few
years.
Really, 'partial donor' means someone who cannot (generally for
medical reasons) donate ANY organ (say because a particular organ is
known faulty or damaged) but has some organs suitable for donation. On
the ID card, it is an extra flag to the organ bank to double-check the
individual's medical records.
