I'm going on my holidays tomorrow, there'll be swimming, and sunbathing,
and other leisurely activities... and I'll miss my computer :(
I'll be gone for a month.
I regret my still insufficient command of linguistics, lojbab, but
still, I know more than I did before... :) The goal in creating lojban
was to make a language which would be different from other languages.
The principal motive for its development was testing the Sapir-Whorf
hypothesis.
Keeping that in mind, can lojban be used for deducing the universals of
natural human languages? Despite the fact that stringing rafsi feels
very natural to me, would such a deduction be scientifically solid,
acceptable?
To make an acceptable scientific argument, I think it would be necessary
to show the parallelism between the compounding mechanisms in lojban and
natural languages. If you can do that, though, why need lojban?
Convince me I'm wrong and I'll be very happy. I find it an interesting
subject.
