#{tarti} is the manner ("x1 behaves/conducts oneself as/in-manner x2"),
#so {se zukte} would be what you do, and {se tarti} how you do it.
You're right. Se zukte and se gasnu. "Se tarti" = demeanour, which is
what Poe's "manner" meant. For the manner of a se zukte/se gasnu,
I guess you'd use a lujvo.
So at any rate, my "My conduct had been verified by them" was a pretty
dire translation, and "My demeanour had convinced them" would have
been much better.
