Interesting point, for which I have never seen
(that I can recall) a could discussion: when use
which?  the closest I can come to a clear answer
(albeit one not justified by CLL at least) is
that {ka'e} is the short form of {cumki}, "it is
possible that," not {kakne}, which is about
inherent abilities/ abilities under certain
conditions.  I suppose that either of these could
apply in the present case.  But {ka'e} lacks the
reference to conditions that both {kakne} and
{cumki} provide.  Since this is clearly about
changing conditions to make something doable,
{ka'e} is at least tenuous, though {kakne} is
also, for different reasons.

From the definitions I gather that {ka'e} is restricted to innate ability while {kakne} refers to ability innate or learned. mu'o mi'e komfo,amonan
