Dropping the speech
.u'e
In my explanation of a "binary lojban", what is important is not the "binary"
part of it at all. At heart, it is about dropping the spoken portion of Lojban.
I heard some of Lojban at work, and it is just fine. However, parts of the
language have been made needlessly complicated in order to make it easier (or
even feasible at all) to speak.
As an apt analogy, look at the curly brackets {}. In Java, they are quite
useful. However, they are not meant to be spoken. I have variously heard them
as: "curly open", "curl open", "squiggly open".
Someone has already written me, inquiring about such a project. I am not
proposing to start one myself. I tried to look at putting together some sort of
binary "natural" language, and found it quite involved. I think it is quite
inevitable, especially as AI and transhumanism start to take hold. I do not see
us talking English after the Singularity. I don't even see us talking Lojban. I
don't see us talking at all!
