[lojban] changing speakers, was Re: xebro rindo xajmi

Quoting Pierre Abbat <phma@phma.optus.nu>:

What is the audiovisual isomorph of changing speakers?

I would say that one such indicator is "mi'e" (+ cmene), which might be appropriate before every statement in a formal context, say a town meeting.

In casual Lojban it's my preference that changes of speaker should be very flexible. For instance, when ".i" is explained it's often said that one reason it's necessary is that a second speaker could be adding something to the first speaker's sentence-- that sounds like fun! (It could be a sport to have a long wide ranging conversation where ".i" is banned, & everyone adds to a single communal bridi!)

I also think that it should be appropriate in some contexts to kibitz (there's some Yiddish!) by adding phrases while someone is speaking: noi, .e, etc. If the main speaker disagrees they can erase what you say with "si." :)

I've been thinking for a while that it would make sense for other people to chime in with UI cmavo about things that are mentioned, sort of like saying "yup" or "uh-huh," but a little bit more responsive.

mu'o mi'e bret.
