McCawley

I have just discovered that my contention that the logical form
of
  Two people left.
  Re prenu cu cliva.
is
  Ex x is set & 2 is cardinality of x & Ay [y is in x] y left
is shared by James McCawley, in
Lexicographical notes on English quantifiers. (1977)
_Chicago Linguistic Society_ 13: 372-383. [reprinted in
McCawley (1979) _Adverbs, vowels, and other objects of
    wonder_ U. of Chicago P.]
_Everything that linguists have always wanted to know about
logic (but were ashamed to ask)_ (1980 [first edition])
    U. of Chicago Press.
with the slight difference that he employs variables that
range only over sets and only over numbers - I don't know
if that is more than a notational variant of my "x is a set".

The authority for this contention is therefore as eminent as
anyone could require.
