Not knowing what the book says about it, I believe that nei was put in to
simplify anaphora references in very complex, multi-levelled bridi. Its
typical usage would be similar to "le go'i", and "le se go'i" for the
previous bridi. It goes along with no'a for references to outer levels of
nested bridi. Possibly there is a use for "le nu nei" or "lesedu'u nei"
within a place of a bridi as well.
