[lojban] Official LogFest Hotel Announcement!
The Hotel
---------
The hotel for LogFest has finally been selected! Sorry that took so
long.
The hotel is the Dulles Days Hotel And Conference Center.
http://www.dullesdayshotel.com/
There is a shuttle from the (extremely close) Dulles International
Airport (code IAD).
Dates
-----
LogFest is running from the evening of Friday the 25th through the
morning of Monday the 29th of July, 2003.
Activities
----------
Because LogFest this year does *not* co-incide with the member's
meeting, I'm hoping to make it a fun, Lojban-centered experience.
John Cowan and I will be performing a comedy skit, and a number of
other games and activities have been suggested, to wit:
* Singing the Lobjan Anthem
<http://www.lojban.org/wiki/index.php/Lojban%20Anthem>
* The word-game "mumym"
(based on <http://www.io.com/~sjohn/5x5.htm> but with gismu)
* The Lojbanic Tea Ceremony
<http://www.lojban.org/wiki/index.php/TeaCeremony>
* I myself will try to formulate rules for Zendo
<http://www.wunderland.com/WTS/Kory/Games/Zendo/>
and The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen
<http://www.hogshead.demon.co.uk/NS_BaronMunchausenRPG.htm>
(which is an amazingly fun and funny game to play).
If you have any other ideas for activities, please, let me know
right away!
Suite Description
-----------------
Thanks goes to Tommy Whitlock for this description. It is a "suite"
the size of 2 normal hotel rooms. In one end, there is a king size
Murphy bed that folds up into the wall, leaving empty floor space.
The other half has a conference table that seats 8. There is also a
small fridge and a lounge chair. I think the room could easily hold
up to 15 people. It could get a little cramped but it's certainly
okay for short term. There are also some good lounge areas
throughout the hotel.
Hotel Selection Criteria
------------------------
The main criteria was price (basic two-person guest rooms are
currently running at about $50 a night!) and availability of the
type of room I was looking for.
In response to people's apparent preferences[1], a suite type room
was selected rather than a conference room.
Cost Of LogFest
---------------
The cost of the suite is $149 a night, for three nights (the 25th,
26th, and 27th). As I will be sleeping there myself, I'm willing to
cover $79 per night (that being a relatively normal room rate at
most hotels). If I can find someone willing to share a king bed
with me, it is likely LogFest will be free, otherwise it will cost
about $20 per person, depending on turnout, unless the LLG decides
to subsidize.
Please note that I will *not* be providing food or money for food.
If the group wishes to get room service or catering, they will have
to pitch in monetarily and arrange it with the hotel at the time.

[1]: With only two people commenting it was hard to tell, but this
is an entirely new experience; I'm sure people will have stronger
preferences next year.
