As I understand it, Mohandas is his given name and Mahatma is a title
of reverence ("Great Soul", I believe).
Not sure whether that's in the same league as "Lord" or "doctor";
perhaps more like "The Iron Chancellor" or "the Governator"; more a
kind of nickname than a class.
