You can always resort to full explicit predicates:

        ko'a le zvati cu sepli lo mitre be li pare
        Ko'a from here is separated by 12 meters.

        lo mentu be li mu cu temci ko'a le cabna
        Five minutes is the time from ko'a to now.

And you can replace ko'a with whatever event you want to say happened
12 meters from here or five minutes ago.

But that is of course very cumbersome for something needed so often,
so I use {va lo mitre be li pare} and {[pu] za lo mentu be li mu}.
