lanzu usage

lanzu | x1 (mass) is a family with members including x2 bonded/tied/joined according to standard x3

i wanted to add this word to my a word a day page, though i'm not sure how it is used. I can only think of "le lanzu [ku]" as being the noun "family".

does anyone has an example? is the word also mean category as in animal classification?

PS is ".i le lanzu ku" a proper lojban sentence by itself?
