x1 is the agent that causes the mailing.  In RFC822 terminology, that's
the "Sender:".  I don't think it could be an intermediate node in the
network.  x3 is the destination of the mail, which presumably could be
the intended recipient ("To:") or a location.  x4 is the origin of the
mail, which I think could also be either a location or a person ("From:").
