I don't know what the consensus is, or even whether there is one. I
was merely reminded of this issue, which had come up before, I believe
when some flyers were drawn up to be handed out at conventions to
advertise Lojban, and there was a bit of discussion as the "best"
shape of that character.

I suspect my preference is largely an artefact of the fonts I've used
to see Lojban in, and of the fact that ASCII apostrophe, as used on
most web pages, is typically fairly straight, so I've never seen much
"good Lojban typography". I can imagine that there are no rules of
typography beyond those that knowledgeable people will impose when
they start to typeset Lojban with a bit of care and attention.
