Most of these are pretty international, the same in the European languages (up to phonology}
Episcopal and Anglican. Methodist,Presbyterian, Baptist, Evangelical, Charismatic, Pentecostal,
Congregational, Reformed. So we can just name them. Just how important the bishops are in the
various anglican churches varies widely: the Primate and, under him, the bishops in Nigeria are
virtually absolute as well as being significant in the national government, the primate of the US
convenes meetings and serves as a lightning rod. In the other hierachical Protestant churces that
have them, bishops seem to be chairmen of a regional clergy committees (though the
Episcopal-Lutheran pact may change Lutheran bishops somewhat). The elders, both governing and
teaching, do control the Presbyterian church actually almost as much as the theory suggests. The
rest are pretty much independent -- congregations either governing themselves or being governed by
a preacher, with some larger association that is more a buyers' club than a denominational power
(the Southern Baptists are trying with some success to put teeth in the the Convention).
Episkopal, Metodist, Anglikan, Prezbiterian, Babdist, Evanjelikal, Karismatik, Penetkostal,
Kongregregational, Reformed.
