On a related note, I like to think that in Lojbanistan there are 81
fepni in a rupnu, with 1-, 3-, 9-, and 27-fepni coins, because that is
the optimal system for making change (cf.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balanced_ternary#Applications).
