[lojban] Re: 2007 Lojban Festival

Some people have expressed confusion about whether jbonunsla was going
to happen at Penguicon three months from now. I just want to clarify
my previous email. Currently this is not planned to happen due to a
low projected attendance. It's unfortunate, but it would only bring in
two out of state Lojban enthusiasts. The outcome wouldn't justify the
sacrifices it would involve from me, those two people, the LLG, my
local Lojbanist group, and Penguicon.

I'm very sorry that this is the decision I had to reach. Penguicon is
still a premiere destination for anyone who has the sort of interests
Lojban enthusiasts tend to have. Whether one or more jbonunsla will
happen somewhere else during 2007 is still an open question.

OK, here is a report on where we currently stand so far, on a decision
of whether or not to have a jbonunsla 2007 at Penguicon. There are
currently only two people, Robin Lee Powell and Matt Dunlap, who would
probably attend. Everyone is happy to see a Lojban Festival happen at
Penguicon 2007, but five of you (komfo, amonan, jcowan, lojbab, kamsen,
bancus) sent their regrets.

I don't wish to run another jbonunsla at Philcon, and I would need at
least a half-dozen out-of-state attendees to justify setting aside
space at Penguicon and do all that labor. Unless I get them within the
next month or so, there won't be a jbonunsla in 2007. This is not
necessarily a bad thing. We could declare it an every-two-years event,
and it might increase demand for one in 2008.
