Here's a new version of eSpeak with improved Lojban.
Your suggestions have helped a lot. It sounds much better with clause
intonation, even if I don't understand any of what it's saying :-)
eSpeak version 1.30.16 (Windows and Linux) at
http://espeak.sf.net/test/latest.html
I expect to make a new formal release (1.31) on Saturday.
There are still questions which i don't understand, but it's now in a
state where someone who knows Lojban can edit the dictsource/jbo_rules
and dictsource/jbo_list files to give properties to words as
appropriate:
- pause (of various length) before or after
- unstressed words
- intonation break before or after.
For example, a short pause before some words might help clarity.
I've added rules to make single-syllable cmavo unstressed, but the
speech may flow better if some multi-syllable cmavo are also unstressed.
The aim is to help to make the spoken text more understandable and easy
to listen to.
If anyone has any questions, I'll be monitoring this list for a couple
or weeks, otherwise email me.
