You noted wikidiscuss in your previous answer. Tell me, how a proud
newbee is supposed to discover that such a thing exists? When you tell
me the name, I have entered it in a search box, but imagine I do not
know the name. The first thing a new user will search on a site will
be any living community. Well, the link "community" exist in the left
bar. It is buried in a second-level menu among a dozen of
not-so-important things, but it exists. On community page there is a
link to forums page. How many people became lost here? Any additional
link to follow halves the auditory. Well, let us think that someone is
tenacious enough to reach that page (third in a chain). There is no
link to wikiforums here! Full stop.
My suggestion: (1) make a bidirectional (or at least read-only) gate
from this one list to a wikiforum. (2) put that wikiforum on the main
page instead of livejournal blog mirror. Then, when someone will came
to the site at the first time, and look at the dates of last messages
in threads, he at least will know that *something happens*.
P.S. I am a bit ill now, and English is not my native language. Sorry
if some of my wording is inappropriate.
