Yes x4 is gone. It is an archaism from the JCB era. It is not entriely clear to me what the difference was between x2 and x4, and it is certainly not clear that all signs/symbols do, or are supposed to, prompt a behavior. The bracket is a "typo" actually an artifact of the auto-processing I used to pull the xrefs out of the <160 character position space
