Hi, a 98%-silent list observer here ..
As a computer dweeb, I can say that the essence of a bit is
that it is 0/1, and otherwise devoid of content or meaning.
Content and meaning come purely from the context.
And it is true that a bit can be said to have a physical
"existence", but only in a pretty abstracted, invisible way,
and this "existence" is independent of the physical medium
used (magnetic disk, optical disk, tape, whatever ..).
Therefore I would propose that a lujvo should convey these ideas.
Perhaps, something like "only barely-tangible true/false indicator".
