modals and makau

Hello,
	after thinking about modals, selma'o BAI, jai and fi'o, I feel
like some constructs based on these could nicely replace several "du'u
makau" cases. However, just to be sure, I'd like to know if there are any
differences in semantics between

	mi djuno le du'u ciska bau makau
and
	mi djuno le jai bau ciska

or, between
	mi djuno le du'u cadzu fi'o pluta makau
and	
	mi djuno le jai fi'o pluta fe'u cadzu


	Leaving aside the case of multiple questions, is there any obvious
case where a single "makau" could not be converted into a description
involving modal conversions (jai) ?
