This is my preference also.

In handwriting (where I also use cyrillic letters as often as not, without
really thinking about it) I almost always put an acute or a macron over the
vowel rather than capitalizing anything. This is technically worng, I
believe, but I'm not doing any formal writing in Lojban so I don't care.
