[lojban] Re: marimba and xylophone and other instruments

What exactly is a pipno? Does any instrument with something arranged like a piano keyboard qualify, or do they have to be keys?
With a piano, the "keys" don't vibrate, they are part of the striking system; with a xylophone, the keys vibrate, similar to a drum. Since there is a gismu for drum, I'd assume that would be the better choice.
{damri} according to the gimste includes cymbals and gongs as well as drums. Cymbals and gongs are idiophones, and cymbals are held at the center; drums are membranophones held at the outside. Hornbostel-Sachs classifies bells, cymbals, and gongs all as 111 and most drums as 21.
I'm not sure what the classifications mean, but to me, a xylophone is a like a set of miniature drums (generally held at two points on the "outside"), generally arranged in a line (though the line isn't always straight). Perhaps {damryli'ica'a}.

Caveat: the most I know about instruments is repairing a piano key mechanisms with household scraps. Not as effective as I would like.
