[lojban] Re: I haven't gone away!

Well thank you Matt, your contribution to the lojban community has, and I'm sure will continue to be of immeasurable importance. I thank you for your kindness, and honesty about these things. and wish you the best at your new job.

I just wanted to reassure you all about my precipitous and sudden drop
off the face of the earth. Yesterday's blog post was my first
appearance in the Lojban community for what feels like months. And yet
it simply had to do with being swallowed up in organizing Penguicon,
which is in three weeks, and changing employment from a salaried job
in which I was paid to wait for other people to need me, to an hourly
job in the customer tech service industry.

To better manage my time during this busy period I had to abstain from
going on the IRC channel. I'm no less interested in having deliberate
conversations about specific topics, but I feel IRC was too undirected
and haphazard for that in terms of time management. You can add me to
your instant messengers with my Gmail address on Google Chat, or with
nemorathwald on Yahoo, AIM and MSN. On Jabber I am
matt_arnold@livejournal.com or mattarnold@idealso.com.

Although my new career doesn't afford me quite as much time as during
the past three years, I expect my level of involvement to at least
increase after Penguicon (April 20-22). I continue to test and drill
in vocabulary every day, and my interest in Lojban has not waned or
altered in any way. I intend to get content up on rlnj.org (le ralju
lojbo le nelci jikca), having been reminded by my annual domain
renewal notice that I have let it sit unused for a year.

It's probably unusual for the Lojban community to receive a
notification like this one. Yet for a while I was such a consistent
presence, and a cheerleader for more activity, that I feel that you
deserved an explanation for my absence. I had a handle on life, but in
January it broke. I am making excellent progress on the handle repair.

I miss you all, and look forward to getting back into daily
involvement. In the meantime I encourage you all to post to the Lojban
blog and keep it active, even if you must set a weekly reminder alarm
to do so. ki'esai
