You should be able to unpack it with the tar program. I've only used the GNU 
tar program on it, but BSD tar should work too (I've untarred a .tar.gz with 
it). The name should probably end it .tar.gz, not .tar.tar. This will give 
you a directory containing the source code, which you can then compile.
