{jai} is similar to the passive, with {fai} corresponding to "by":
*In English is discussed Lojban by us.
English has a dative-passive (which in Lojban is {te}, using {dunda} as the 
selbri, and doesn't use {fai}), but no language-passive, so the above 
sentence sounds weird in English.
