Same in English, same in Lojban. So no advantages in Lojban ? That's

Besides, the process of memorizing all those "jinmlruterfordi" is not
so cheerful. So
it's a shortcoming of Lojban compared to natural languages.

Let's look at my first suggestion.
We can use:
xukmixepa is Hydrogen-1
xukmixere is Deuterium (Hydrogen-2)
xukmixeci is Tritium (Hydrogen-3)
And we need something that will indicate hydrogen in general as we
can't say "xukmixe" as noted earlier.

May be.
Another alternative for elements is to say la ruterfordium. or la
rutxerfordium. after all.
Such names are almost immediately available for use by chemicists.
But we can keep already existing gismu for Ferrum, Aurum etc. as they
are quite handy.
And I also think it'd be better to just cmenenize compounds' names.
