Github offers free hosting for open source projects and paid for hosting
if you want non-public repositories. They have a nice web interface for
all their stuff. Here's a few nice things to look at:

A project overview page with the last commit message, the files and a
readme file.

A list of all commits.

A commit view with a big diff.

The "network graph visualizer" that shows all commits on all forks.

You can mark other repositories or accounts as "watched" and you will
get their activities in your private news feed. There's a git-based
nopaste-like service called "gist", every projects gets an issue tracker
and a wiki, as well as a website they can (but not have to) use.

The web interface enables you to easily fork projects and once you've
made changes, you can send a pull-request to the repository you forked
from with one click. There's a view to compare branches and different
repositories. You can edit files directly in the web interface.

In short, github makes git hosting easy and beautiful.
