mmm, I like {.i'e} or variations to get more specific depending on what kind of "cool" one is talking about.

e.g.  {.i'e} for a generic "I like/approve of this",  {.i'e .u'e} for "that's awesome/amazing/etc...", {.i'e .io} for "that's awesome/amazing/etc..." but with the connotation that I myself respect it.

All of this being more evidence that I would really benefit from peppering my language with more UI (if I could get off my lazy ass and actually learn them all in completion)

You mean more unambiguous?

Either way, we have {ba'e} and {sai} and a bunch of other things.
I'm sure you could use those if you wanted.
