[lojban] Re: Question to the community about the MOO/MUD/text-based multi-user game.
I came in during text adventures, but sadly I have never participated
in, nor understand how to operate, a MUD/MOO (client?). This is before
my time, and probably would not interest me.
However, something like a persistant 3D world with low system
requirements would be very interesting.
((Neverwinter Nights comes to mind, as that runs easily on my system
and I can easily make a persistant world that is in Lojban.))
There is a problem in that most commercial games are exactly that,
commercial. I wouldn't expect anybody to run out and pay 20$ or
however much it is for a copy of the game. There are a few other
options, though. I haven't messed around with it, but it seems there
is a large following for cantr. Other options include Second Life and
similar games (though I'm not sure how friendly they are for systems
which are less than ideal for games or graphics rendering such as
mine). A final option, which might be fun, is to have a regular
persistant IRC-based RP group. We could arbitrarily select a system
and change things to fit Lojban, or even come up with our own system
(I have several that can quickly and easily be implimented).
Personally I see the latter option as the most likely, but I would
certainly enjoy any other option as long as it doesn't use stuff
that's far beyond legacy technology. =D
