Funnily enough, a lot of non-English speakers have incorporated the
word "cool" in their slang, even French:
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/cool#French

With English being today's de facto lingua franca that was actually to
be expected. For an ironical case in point, "de facto" is there in
English because once upon a time Latin was the de facto lingua franca
of Europe. Most languages don't have an analogue for the modern
meaning of English "cool" anyway which makes incorporating that very
word in the slang a reasonable alternative to inventing a new word
just for that meaning. Thus, "cool" actually does mean "cool" in more
languages than you'd think, if you count in the slang.
