Both are African, but only one is *called* africana. The one with rounded ears
is called cyclotis. So "lo sa'orselde'i voi friko" identifies one
species, "lo sa'orselde'i voi cukla se kerlo" and "lo sa'orselde'i poi cukla
se kerlo" identify the other, and "lo sa'orselde'i poi friko" is no more
specific than "lo sa'orselde'i".

Well, you said there were three species of elephant, and only two of them are African, yes? So the {poi friko} is somewhat more specific, just not between the two you're talking about. :D
