I strongly considered the tiki as a platform, but I decided that it
didn't fit the process that I prefer to use for Jefnuz. I started off
doing Jefnuz on Etherpad (before it was bought by Google) and I very
much enjoy the potential for live collaborative editing. People can
write pieces and paste them in whole if they prefer, but I enjoy
watching things being written live, and there's the possibility that
several of us could be working in the document at the same time.
Other than Google Docs another live collaborative editing platform I
considered was the Etherpad platform, which now that it's open source
exists in numerous incarnations all over the web. I really enjoy the
way Etherpad works; it's a very simple and clean interface. Honestly
I think the deciding factor for me was that there's so many different
Etherpads now, with little to distinguish them, and I'm not familiar
enough with any of those sites to know how dependable and stable and
so forth any of them are. There's just one Google Docs so it was a
simpler choice. If Etherpad would work better for you, we could
somehow choose one of the many sites that runs it. Or I'll consider
any site with live collaborative editing.

So far we've had basically no organization at all. This week for the
first time I added an English section. Feel free to rearrange things
if you have any good ideas for how to structure them. So far it's
always been short enough that I haven't worried about it much. If we
got enough content coming in that we needed to give it more structure,
that would be a nice problem to have. :)

The first issue will be published tomorrow-- here on this list, and as
a web page, and on a new list I'm going to make for the purpose which
will get only that exactly one email each week. (Anyone is free of
course to publish it anywhere else as well.) It'll then be time to
start editing next week's edition.
