They are different. "za" is the distance between now and the arriving.
"ze'a" would be the duration of the arriving. But the arriving itself
will last very little. It's the separation between now and the
arriving that matters here, so "za".

No, "su'e" already means "no more than".

Yes, a single sumti is a grammatical utterance. Even several sumti
alone conform a grammatical utterance.

I suppose that could work too, it's just a bit weird to add a duration
to a place structure that already involves a duration..

Exactly. "gasnu" means "make" in the sense of "make
(someone/something) do" or "make (someone/something) be", even though
it is glossed as "do".
