Well, actually going back to the orginal it doesn't say if he's the
master builder or the architect. He said (in the next page) that he
followed the emperor's plans but it's not clear if he is the architect
(and the emperor gave him direction) or the bulder (and the emperor
give him detailed plans).

Given that the original doesn't say it, what about leaving dijcre? We
still don't know what type of expert he his, but we don't know it in
the original either.
Alternatively. How could I render "Mister Roduz"? The reason the
original put "mister" is to differentiate the viceroy behavior toward
Roduz (a free man) and the frog man (a slave). Just say {coi .roduz.}
doesn't seem right to me.
