This is really interesting, though I don't feel qualified to weigh
in on the utility of it: I haven't studied this part of the language
yet.  I'm left wanting to hear opinions from people more familiar
with mex.

Would you be willing to put a test suite together?  I'd like to have
something that we could both compare to the official grammar and
something that demonstrates the grammar you've developed works like
you expect it to.
