jbovlaste supports the DICT protocol at dict.lojban.org. For example,  
if you have the unix dict client 'dict -h dict.lojban.org jai' will  
work.

For information on the protocol, see RFC 2229.

The DICT service happens to also be the backend of the jbovlaste  
search at <http://www.lojban.org/cgi-bin/dict.pl>.
