I'm not entirely sure that Lindar was talking about counting as in "1, 2, 3, 4" in the first place.count
–verb (used with object)1. to check over (the separate units or groups of a collection) one by one to determine the total number; add up; enumerate: He counted his tickets and found he had ten.2. to reckon up; calculate; compute.4. to include in a reckoning; take into account: There are five of us here, counting me.5. to reckon to the credit of another; ascribe; impute.6. to consider or regard: He counted himself lucky to have survived the crash.
Like most English words, there are multiple senses to "count". "1,2,3,4" would be definition 1 a/o 2, "1.4653*10^4" would, I think, be 2.
To quote Lindar:I'm pretty sure by "counting exponentially", he is referring to scientific notation (2.25*10^2), or possibly factorization (225 = 3^2*5^2).
"To expand on the question, I mean rather than saying 14326 as "one four three two six" instead of "fourteen thousand three hundred twenty-six" are there any other counting methods? Counting exponentially, or any other system that isn't just saying all of the numbers starting at the highest place and ending at the singles?"On Mon, Feb 14, 2011 at 2:44 PM, MorphemeAddict <lytlesw@gmail.com> wrote:What have these to do with counting? IIRC there are gismu for at least 10^3n and a cmavo for E (but don't ask me what any of these are)

As in, for example, Scientific Notation? 1.4326*10^4, as expressed in Lojban?
