Re: [lojban] Re: [lojban-announcements] Let's play Cantr in Lojban!
Well, my lojban character (which I'm beginning to strongly suspect
is the only one left in Cantr), is slowly but surely learning German,
out of necessity, thanks to some helpful people. S/he's translated
23 words and phrases from/to German. S/he's actually teaching more
lojban than learning German, a fact that will undoubtedly remain true
until the other characters get a clue that you really need to dumb it
waaaaayyyy down at the beginning of the learning curve (a la "Where
are my keys?") and use one word utterances and gestures and not try to
say full sentences when my char doesn't understand which of the words
of your utterance might be the name of the thing you are pointing to
when you say, "Siehst du das Elefanten dort drüben? Ich werde es mit
meinem Blasrohr zu töten, während sie das Baden."* since I've only
learned the word "Ich" so far!
*My apologies if the German is completely
unintelligible/ungrammatical, since I am using Google translate, which
I've had to rely on extensively while communicating actions/emotions
(the only thing my character is allowed to do in non-lojban), since I
don't think most of the other players have a good command of English.
