[lojban] Writing the accent instead of the capital letter
I've been thinking about writing the stress with an accent instead of a
capital letter. The accent need be written only on cmevla. I suggest these
rules, which aren't complete:
*Syllabic consonants are ignored for counting.
*:míklson
*The stress is by default placed on a certain syllable, counted as if
diphthongs were pronounced as one syllable even if written otherwise, and on a
certain vowel in that syllable.
*A syllable is counted if it contains a vowel other than "y". A syllable which
contains "y" and no other vowel is skipped under conditions which aren't
exactly clear yet.
*:sautuesrydyfytyn: not clear which syllable gets the stress
*:lylun: the "u" is by default stressed
*:málybar
*:uiliýmben
*A string of vowels is broken into syllables starting from the right.
The stressed vowel of a diphthong is like this:
áu, ái, éi, ói,
uá, ué, uí, uó, uú,
iá, ié, ií, ió, iú,
iý, uý.
The stressed vowel of a triphthong, if there is any, is the middle vowel.
This is loosely based on the system used in Spanish, which I don't fully know.
There are (AFAIK) four third-person singular past tense forms of verbs
consisting of one consonant followed by "io": dio, fio, rio, vio. Of these,
"dio" and "vio" are one syllable and "fio" and "rio" are two, accented on "o"
(this takes some explanation, particularly for "rio", and is irrelevant). The
first-person singular present forms of these verbs are "fío" and "río" (the
latter is also a noun meaning "river"). Since the default stressed vowel of
"io" is "o", it has to be written on "fío" and "río".
