I have had conversations with at least 3 or 4 people who claimed to
be experts with LaTeX, including things like doing all their math
homework in it.  That's just the people I happen to have bumped into
on IRC; I would assume that's not all of them around here.

The latter would probably be acceptable, although since we're
dealing with machine output it will be slow going.
