[lojban] Using Apertium to create a new translation pair English <-> Lojban

Hi everybody I'm new in the list and I'm a fan of opensource software and very interested in learning Lojban,

it surprised to me that google didn't show any result about any initiative of using the opensource translator Apertium

in order to create a translator Lojban - English , is there any reason for it? Maybe it was not too popular?
