Right. farna2 is the thing "with a face" (or any other orientational feature).
The definition is

This is a dictionary definition of "direction": "the line along which
anything lies, faces, moves, etc., with reference to the point or
region toward which it is directed: The storm moved in a northerly
direction." I take x1 to be the point or region toward which x2 is
directed.
