If the aliens teach the humans Lojban, then are you just using Lojban as a
(logical) alien language? This conflicts strongly with the real-world facts
of Lojban. Or maybe the aliens are teaching the humans Lojban because the
aliens understand Lojban qua Lojban more readily?

The aliens call la selpurdi are themselves a construct of a high level alien culture the cev. The la selpurdi are biological robots programmed to find worlds for their masters and terraform them so they will be habitable. la selpurdi have a huge number of languages and communications methods, so if they meet native species they will be able to communicate with them. One of the modes of communication with which they are programmed is lojban. Since the aliens are created creatures of pure logic they teach those they encounter languages that suit such a system. They also teach humans the logic to go with it. Now the aliens have some differences in their logic system. Instead of using yes/no gates they would use a four pathway gate Identical/Homologous/analagous/Unrelated. There are other differences but this is the largest and most obvious.
