Re: [lojban] 'Solve & coagula' in lojban?

{ko fendi gi'e jongau} is one way of saying it; {ko} is the imperative "you", {gi'e} is "and", and {jongau} is compound based on {jorne} which implies an agent.

{gau ko fendi je jorne} is another way, which I prefer aesthetically, although it is probably less likely to come up in conversation.
{gau ko se fendi je jorne} has more semantic symmetry.

You could also say {gau ko fedjo'e}, coining {fedjo'e} (the compound of {fedni} and {jorne}) to be the alchemical motto, or {gau ko selfedjo'e}, where {selfedjo'e} is the motto (this is preferable for the same reason as the statement containing {se fendi}.

I'm not sure if this is the correct way to take that phrase as a name (names can't be arbitrary phrases in lojban), but here's what I'd say: {la selfedjo'e pe gau ko}.

Hello!

How would you say 'solve et coagula' in lojban? It is a Latin alchemical motto, obviously meaning 'solve and coagulate' or 'divide and join' -- 1st person imperative. I've found 'fendi' and 'jorne' but don't know how to put them in a phrase. I don't speak any lojban.

It's for the name of a boat. A packraft, to be precise. I do like the Latin phrase, but when push comes to shove I'd prefer a still more universal and less imperialist language.

Thank you in advance!
