Yes, there could be incremental improvements, but you'd end up with something looking nothing like its evolutionary ancestor. And really it would be far easier to start from scratch than to try to get by incremental steps to a solution that is hard enough to attain even if you were to start from scratch.
I should clarify, that I'm not just thinking about how to make typical Lojban sentences conciser. Rather, I'm imagining a system in which there is no concision gain in filling a place with zo'e than with something explicit and not relying on glorking. Ideally, a system where the co-filled status of a group of co-filled argument places is shown by a more economical method than simply sticking the same variable in each place overtly.
